Passion Flower
I first saw this flower while on vacation in Italy. Walking through the streets of Siena, I saw this plant in full bloom at the entrance to a home. I had never seen it before and thought it was beautiful. Little did I know it is very common in my region and many people have them. The blooms are beautiful and very plentiful. It is easy to grow but it likes to escape it's boundaries. I can easily get it to grow up the trellis and it is happy wrap itself around it. But, as much as I try, it will escape the boundaries of the pot and go on an adventure elsewhere. It is not surprising for me to find it blooming on the top of my azalea bushes, or hanging over the top of a bird house, or climbing up a pecan tree. It reminds me of a small toddler who smiles when you say No and then takes off running. Laughing and hoping that you will chase him. Just free to be beautiful.
So, I share with you my painting of the beautiful Passion Flower.
